The original tower.
The tower prior to restoration.
The fire tower at Ft. Mountain State Park was originally built by the Civilian Conservation Corp,CCC in the 1930’s. Peachtree Construction Services was awarded the bid to reconstruct and restore this tower to it’s orginal appearance as the top of the tower burned in 1971 and had fallen into disuse. The project encompassed reconstruction of the entrance and interior steps, completely rebuilding the cupola of the tower, stone and masonry repairs and the addition of a seating area at the base of the tower. In the fall of 2015 the Georgia Department of Resources held a rededication to honor the legacy and caretakers of the tower.
