Georgia Gwinnett College wanted to repurpose a largely unused concrete expanse between the library with a Starbucks and the Student Union into an aesthetically attractive multipurpose amenity for the students. The solution was to construct a steel and wood pergola with a large central stone fireplace, lighted bollards with individual duplex outlets and decorative overhead fans. The drab concrete was replaced with brick pavers to match the new campus standard. The completed structure provides an inviting place for students to dine, study, relax and meet for campus musical entertainment. In the winter, the large, double-sided gas log fireplace offers a warm and inviting place to enjoy the outdoors while staying warm.
